Countdown’s Rachel Riley ‘splits from her husband after 16 months of marriage’

Countdown beauty Rachel Riley has split from her millionaire husband after just 16 months of marriage, it was reported last night

Rachel, 27, who partnered Pasha Kovalev in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing series, shocked pals with the news she and Jamie Gilbert were breaking up.

A family friend said Jamie, 31, was “shocked and stunned” and added: “He has no idea where this has come from.

“Rachel just told him they had grown apart.”

No one else was involved in the split, insiders insisted.

One source said last night: “They are separated. Rachel is away filming much of the time.

“Jamie’s stuff is still at the house so he hasn’t technically moved out.”

Maths genius Rachel – twice voted one of FHM magazine’s top 100 sexiest women – married her Oxford University sweetheart in August 2012 seven years after they first got together.

The pair, who live near Southend, Essex, dated for four years before splitting in 2009, but got back together again and were engaged two years ago.

Public school-educated Jamie, who works for dad David’s computer furniture firm Powerdesk, proposed to Rachel on her 25th birthday and the pair married in a fairytale ceremony.

But there were fears for their relationship when Rachel landed a new job in the summer co-presenting The Gadget Show on Channel Five.

The job meant she was away from home six days a week filming while Jamie was left alone at home “playing poker”.

Her spokeswoman declined to comment last night on the split.
