Musician Joe Cocker Lists Colorado Ranch for $7 Million

British musician Joe Cocker is listing his Colorado ranch, which has served as his primary home since the 1990s, for $7 million.

On a roughly 240-acre ranch about two hours from Aspen in the town of Crawford, Mr. Cocker built a nearly 16,000-square-foot, seven-bedroom, nine-bathroom house.

It is European in style, with a turret at the entrance. The house also has a billiards room with an antique English snooker table. According to the singer’s wife, Pam Cocker, 62, Mr. Cocker, who is 69, taught friends in the area how to play the English game, and now hosts a yearly tournament.

The property also has a barn, irrigated pastures, an equipment shed and other outbuildings that could be used for ranching. The property has a pond that the family uses for swimming and boating in the summer. Mr. Cocker, known for such hits as “You Are So Beautiful,” is also “quite the gardener,” his wife said, and the property has 5 acres of fenced-in gardens and two greenhouses. In particular, “he loves growing tomatoes,” she said, noting that he collects seeds from all over the world.

The singer and his wife bought the land for about $250,000 in 1992, naming it “Mad Dog Ranch” after Mr. Cocker’s 1970s “Mad Dogs and Englishmen” tour, Ms. Cocker said. “The original plan was to build something small, just a place to go in the winter,” she added, as the couple’s primary home was in Santa Barbara, Calif. “But we just fell in love with this place and made it our permanent residence.”

They sold their Santa Barbara house in 1994.

The small-town feel of the area is part of what drew the couple to Crawford. Ms. Cocker said the two have made “wonderful friends” in the area and have enjoyed the feeling of being “just regular folks.”

Ms. Cocker said the couple is now selling because they’re ready to move to a smaller place. They own land across the street from Mad Dog Ranch, where they plan to build a smaller house, she said. They’ve also purchased a condo at the Four Seasons Residences in Denver.
