Prior to their break-up there were reports of the marriage being on the rocks since 2008 as Lucy, who found fame playing Dawn Tinsley on The Office, was spotted out without her wedding ring.

In February the pair released a statement saying: ‘We have separated but are on good terms and would kindly ask for our privacy to be respected during this time.’

The couple separated in January, and filed divorce papers in L.A. County Superior Court, citing irreconcilable differences.

Davis, who turns 40 in January, revealed that her milestone birthday which is fast approaching has prompted her to get her life back on track.

The British star is hoping her decision to sort out her disorder will help others who face similar problems.

Recognising and accepting the demons in her life, Lucy admitted: ‘I had to think maybe it isn’t about food or weight – it’s something else altogether.’
